The Chinese word 以为 means “to think” or “to believe”. It is often used to convey a person’s opinion or perception about something. For example, one might say “我以为今天是星期五” which means “I thought today was Friday”.

以为 is part of HSK Level 3 in HSK 2.0. In the newer HSK 3.0 it is part of HSK Level 2.
